The concierge at our hotel in Budapest recommended this restaurant to two of our friends traveling with us on a river cruise down the Danube. The next night they didn't want to go anywhere else and introduced us to the First Strudel House of Pest. Wow!
Whether you are looking for real apple strudel with ice cream or go a bit more adventureous with menu items like Roasted Leg of Duck served with Strudel stuffed with onion flavored Mashed Potatoes and maybe a bowl of Hungarian Beef Goulash Soup, the First Strudel House of Pest is sure to please.
It is just a short walk from the Sofitel which is just 1 block from the beautiful Blue Danube. We had a wonderful evening in their cozy dining room and the owner even helped us order. We had a lovely bottle of Hungarian wine and thought it was so good, our group ordered a second. He didn't tell us until after we saw him dash out the door and return a few minutes later, that the first bottle we had was the only one in his cellar. He actually ran out to buy more just for us.
Unforgetable food and unforgetable evening. One of the best parts of travel is discovering great food with great friends.
